Jan 9 ~ Welcome Back

Welcome back!

May we be the blessing this year!

Ephesians 4:1-6
As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received. Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit-just as you were called to one hope when you were called--one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.

JOURNAL (You should probably get a new journal ja?)
  • First term of the new year (copy into Journals & Notes):
    • Christus mansionem benedicat
      • What do you think it means?
  • How might it relate to Caspar, Melchior, and Balthasar?
  • This quarter you will chalk up some poetry, but will your chalk be blessed
  • Let's exchange tiny gifts in the form of an affirmation...who can you call out the blessing in? What blessing does this person bring to our community and your life?
HW: Bring a poster board for your next vocabulary project...colorful is better than white!

Here's an Epiphany art march:

Mid 500's (AD, of course)
Mid 1500's (El Greco)

Mid 1600s (Murillo)
1800s (Tissot)

EQ: Does society need poetry?
  • Journal 1 (Yes #1! Let's begin fresh): What is poetry to you? What is your gut reaction to the idea of studying it? Why? What do you have to gain from creating or appreciating poetic forms of expression?
Agree/Disagree
  1. Poetry must rhyme to be good.
  2. Poetry is for expressing emotions.
  3. Poetry makes you sound "deep."
  4. Music lyrics classify as poetry.
  5. A poem always has a hidden meaning.
  6. Poetry can be more powerful than a conversation.
  7. Society needs poets and poetry.
